Booking ferries Dubrovnik to Bari without car registration details

I would like to book a ferry from Dubrovnic to Bari.
The booking form requires a registration number but I will be using a hire car so do not have a number yet :
Is it possible to book without a registration number?

Hi David, in case you don’t know registration number of your car (or any other vehicle) in required filed in booking form please put TBA ( to be amend).
Once booking is made and you know reg. number of your car simply contact us quoting reference number of your booking and we add registration to your booking.

We are hoping to travel to Zadar, Croatia from Ancona, Italy on Tuesday August 27 overnight.
We plan to bring a car, but it will be rental car.
It appears when we book a ticket for the ferry we need to state the type of car with our booking.
We won't know our car type and number until we receive it.
Do the ferries sell out, can I book a ferry trip without knowing the car information?

Booking with Car Rental I am trying to book online Dubrovnik to Bari.
The website asks for make of car and model of car.
I will be renting a car and do not know exactly what it will be other than a compact.
Do I just pick a make and model randomly?
What if I show up for boarding with a different car than what I indicated?

Our vehicle will be hired / lease, we have not been allocated a registration number for the vehicle yet, but need to book the ferry from Split to Ancona on the 30 March.
If you could please advise, that would be great
