Ferry cancellation due to bad weather

We were due to get a ferry from Dubrovnik to Hvar and received an email an hour before sailing to say the trip was canceled.

We have taken a bus to Split in the hopes of getting to sail from there to Hvar, however, some ferries have canceled due to weather.

We are due to stay in the Hvar Hotel tonight as part of our honeymoon.

I am seeking advice on how to get across to Hvar today?

    Regards,
    Christina

Hi Christina, as you already took a bus from Dubrovnik to Split, and I guess you are on the way now, my advice is once you arrive in Split, get to to port and to Jadrolinija’s, Krilo and TP Line kiosks to check what is available.

Weather can change last minute and the captain of the specific ferry may decide to go ahead with the crossing.

Sometimes, ferries are sailing out of the schedule if the weather does not permit sailing according to schedule, so checking with ferry companies in the port is always a good idea.

Also, try to stay in the port (get a coffee or snack in a nearby cafe) and keep checking every 1/2 hour what is going on.

Here is more info about what to do if the ferry is delayed or canceled: https://www.croatiaferries.com/delays-ferry-service-croatia/

In the worst case scenarios, Jadrolinija’s large car ferry from Split to Stari Grad (Hvar island) always sails.

Just be patient and you will get to Hvar Island today 🙂

also, check the sky, you may see a rainbow
