We are looking to travel from Dubrovnik to Vis on the Sunday 25th of June.
    Please advise the best route.

There are no direct ferries from Dubrovnik to Vis island.
    https://www.croatiaferries.com/vis-island-ferries.htm

You would need to go from Dubrovnik to Split (use ferry or bus or combination of both) – see here:

    for ferries: https://www.dubrovnik-travel.net/getting-by-ferry-from-split-to-dubrovnik/
for other means of transport : https://www.dubrovnik-travel.net/travel/split-dubrovnik/

and from Split travel by ferry to Vis island:
    https://www.croatiaferries.com/split-vis-ferry.htm

There is also once a week ferry from Hvar to Vis, however it is not sailing on Sundays:

Thank you for this info, this is very helpful.

Can you tell me more about that Hvar to Vis ferry you mentioned in your reply?
    Thx

Julianna, the best day to travel from Dubrovnik to Vis is Tuesday.

Take any available morning ferry from Dubrovnik to Hvar and change there for Hvar to Vis ferry. At the present, it is the 07:00 ferry to Hvar but it may change in the future.

This is the only day it is possible for time being.

On all other days, you have to go via Split.

Update: With the newly introduced TP Line ferry crossings between Makarska, Bol, Hvar, Vis and Split you can now travel daily from Dubrovnik to Vis with one change in Hvar. Basically, make sure you reach Hvar from Dubrovnik before 10:30 in the morning to get on the next ferry to Vis. You will be in Vis in 55 minutes, around 11:30.

Another option is traveling on Wednesdays via Brac island:
Leave Dubrovnik in the morning and reach Milna on Brac island by 15:40 when the fast ferry to Vis is departing: https://www.croatiaferries.com/milna-vis-ferry.htm
One of the options is a fast ferry from Dubrovnik to Bol (morning departure) https://www.croatiaferries.com/dubrovnik-bol-ferry.htm
or, a day earlier, a fast ferry to Milna (afternoon departure) https://www.croatiaferries.com/dubrovnik-milna-ferry.htm and overnight on Brac to get the afternoon ferry the following day.

We are a group of 4 looking to travel to Vis island in the end of July, coming from Dubrovnik.

Could you advise what route we take?

And can we travel with a car?

Ena, yes, you can travel by car from Dubrovnik to Vis, via Split.

So, drive from Dubrovnik to Split (choose the driving route to cross over Peljesac bridge to avoid border crossings with Bosnia), and take car ferry from Split to Vis Island.

You can reserve & book car place on ferry in advance at Jadrolinija site.

Here is an additional article with more details:

    Thank you!
And to travel to Hvar from Dubrovnik by car is it the same?
    We can take our car?
Also can I book this far in advance?

For Dubrovnik to Hvar by car is to drive to Drvenik and take a car ferry from there to Sucuraj (Hvar island)

    https://www.croatiaferries.com/drvenik-sucuraj-ferry.htm

The alternative is to drive to Split and take Split to Stari Grad car ferry.

    https://www.croatiaferries.com/split-starigrad-ferry.htm

The advantage of the second option is that advance booking with car place reservation for that car ferry booking is available, while at present, Drvenik to Sucuraj is a first-come first-served option.
