I have a question about getting from Zadar to Dugi Otok as a foot passenger, I’m hoping someone can help.

    1. We are two foot passengers with no car, do we need to reserve the ferry in advance or can we just turn up at the port and buy our tickets there?

    2. What is the best way to get from Zadar airport to the ferry terminal? can we get a bus or taxi?

    3. Our return flight from Zadar airport is at 12:45, so we need to check in at 10:30 the latest, I guess. Are there any ferries that can get us from Dugi Otok to Zadar in time for our flight? Is that tight and risky time-wise? Are we better off to overnight in Zadar the night before our flight?

    Thank you in advance

Hi Frank, when exactly are you arriving at Zadar Airport?

Where are you staying on Dugi Otok? Which place – the name of the place/village.

Car ferries, which also take foot passengers sail to Brbinj and catamarans sail to Sali and Zaglav.

Catamarans take about 40 minutes, car ferries take about 1 hour and a half.

For a catamaran you have to go to the town port, and for a car ferry to Gazenica port.

Thanks for getting back to me.

We are staying in Sali on Dugi Otok.

Our flights arrive at Zadar airport on Thursday at 11:30 approx in July.

Fast foot passenger catamarans sail between Zadar old town and Zaglav or Sali. Sali is very close to Zaglav so look both timetables.

From Gazenica to Brbinj there is car ferry that also takes passengers.
There is a shuttle bus from the airport that runs to the Zadar city center, an old town, where the foot passenger port is situated.

I think you are better of to get to Zadar old town port locally called Zadar Poluotok and take a catamaran to Sali or Zaglav from there.

I agree, the best option is to get by foot passenger fast ferry, it will take you less than one hour to reach the island.

The airport shuttle bus stops in Gazenica as well as in the Poluotok where you can get a catamaran operated by Iadera G&V line between the Zadar old town port and Sali or Zaglav.

They have nice boats, look at this video

As you are traveling in the high season (July), I would recommend you to book your ticket in advance. You can book it here: https://gv-line-zadar.aktiva-info.hr/

The best way to get to Dugi Otok for you would be to get a 15:30 catamaran ferry to Sali. If you miss that one, there is also one at 20:00.

    Here is the timetable:

Yes, there is a shuttle bus to the city center, which costs about 5 euros – here is the timetable: https://www.zadar-airport.hr/en/public-transport. There is also the alternative Uber or taxi. It will take you about 15 minutes to reach the port by bus or taxi as it is only about 11 km away.

    • Regarding your return to the airport, take the early morning ferry at 6:50 arrive in Zadar at 7:30, and get on the shuttle bus (or taxi) to the airport. You will have plenty of time for your check-in, so there is no need to overnight in Zadar the night before your flight. It is not tight or risky time-wise.
Zaglav to Zadar ferries are here: https://www.croatiaferries.com/zaglav-zadar-ferry.htm
