My question is about taking food on the ferry from Split to Dubrovnik:
We’ll be taking the Krilo or TP Line catamaran ferry in May.
Is there any food service on the ferry?
Can we bring our own food onboard?

We are going on that ferry in May which will be about 4 hours journey.
I had thought that we would take some packed lunches/dinners with us to save on paying what I imagine will be pretty expensive ferry restaurant prices.
My idea is to have with me in the bag the most obvious things such as ham sandwiches, cheese sandwiches, porridge pots with milk, cereal boxes with milk, and some fruits like apples or oranges.

Are we allowed to bring food/drinks onto the ferry catamaran from Split to Dubrovnik?

Food on ferries and other ships, what and endless subject šŸ™‚

I always take our own “ferry picnic”. I prefer the basics so the food we take with us is simple. Perhaps it is better for a possibly rocky journey.
I also recommend some cutlery, even plastic one will do, kitchen towel, paper glasses, a large bottle of water, maybe a bottle of juice.

There are nice and wide tables on the catamaran handy to place your food and drink.

I also take a flask with coffee as I prefer my brewed coffee instead of cafe offers.

There is no restaurant on the catamarans in Croatia. There is a small cafe/bar on catamarans, serving just basic food.

You may get croissants & pain au chocolat, Pringles or similar potato-based chips, sweets, coffee, tea, beer, bottled water, and similar, very basic.

Nothing like fancy appetizing options from the onboard restaurant or cafe.

Here is a photo of the cafe/snack bar:

Yes, food & drinks on the catamaran from Split to Dubrovnik are allowed. Bring homemade snacks and nice drinks and enjoy your journey.

Bringing food in the car on the ferry

I am travelling to Vis island from Split by car ferry with my dog in my car. Iā€™m staying in self-catering so I was going to bring some food for the first day or two to use until I do shopping. I was going to bring some eggs, bread, salami, cheese and also my dog’s food. Are these food types allowed on the ferry does anyone know? Is there a check for what is in the car before boarding with your car? It is my first time traveling with my dog in my car on a ferry so all tips etc welcome šŸ™‚ Thanks

You can bring what you want of food on the car ferry – meat, dairy, milk, butter, cheese, fruit, and vegetables. My ferry-packed lunch list usually covers several family meals. We have been to several car ferries and they haven’t checked our vehicle for anything including food. If you travel in summer, take a coolbox with you.

Yes, taking food on the car ferry is allowed (including dog food) and your car is not checked for these items.

Although there is some food available on the car ferry’s snack bar, that is usually very limited, and actually, most people take food with them in containers to have a meal and drink while sailing by the ferry.

Here is a photo of the interior of the car ferry where people sit around in the lounge and eat/drink their food and beverages:
