I am travelling from Dublin to Dubrovnik on August 2nd and plan to do a few days in the city then I plan to travel to the islands of Croatia for a week.

Can you advise if I need to pre-book my ferry tickets or would I be ok to buy them on the day I want to travel?

If we buy a Dubrovnik to Split ticket in good time is it guaranteed to get the ferry we book?

    Is the ferry often full?

We need to get to Split for a flight the day after.

    Is that risky?

    Lisa,

Buy your ticket now for the date you need:

The only risk is bad weather, but you will know at least a day or two in advance detailed weather forecast so you will check with the ferry company is everything ok with the following day’s departure.

The alternative transport is Dubrovnik to Split by bus, which you can always get if ferries are canceled due to the bad weather.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you!

So if I buy and get my ticket I will get on the Ferry , the time I booked, if the Ferry is not cancelled?

    yes you will.

if you have a ticket you get on ferry if ferry is not cancelled due to the bad weather.

dubrovnik to split ferries are all just for foot passengers, no cars so ferry ticket guarantee you space on the specific ferry you booked.

I am with a small group that will be travelling in Croatia this coming September. Would you recommend that we purchase ferry tickets (Dubrovnik to Split) in advance, or would it be acceptable to purchase them a couple of days before leaving Dubrovnik?
Thank you in advance, I look forward to your reply!

Chris, yes, I would recommend purchasing a ticket in advance as this is a popular crossing and having a ticket guarantee your place on the ferry.
