JonasGuestHi everyone, if someone can help me, I am trying to organize a solo cycling tour of north Adriatic, aka island hopping from Krk island to Zadar and hopefully to/from Biograd na Moru.
My itinerary is following:
– once on Krk island, cycle to Valbiska and take the ferry to Lopar (Valbiska to Lopar Ferries https://www.croatiaferries.com/valbiska-lopar-ferry.htm)
– cycle around Rab island and take the ferry Rab to Lun Tovarnele (Pag island)
https://www.croatiaferries.com/rab-luntovarnele-ferry.htm
– cycle along Pag Island and to Zadar
– fly back home from Zadar airportIs this itinerary viable, is anything I have to know about this particular island-hopping route/s?
Thanks in advance to everyone!Island hopping by Bicycle from Krk island to Zadar
MateGuestThis itinerary sounds good to me, just a couple of notes:
Take a small boat from Rab to Pag, and avoid going to the mainland.
I suggest riding your bicycle over Pag Island instead along the coastal road as these are less busy roads.
In my opinion, one of the scariest roads for cycling is that coastal road so try to avoid it as much as you can.
Depending on how much time you have, there is also another very nice cycling route – from Zadar to Preko by ferry, cycle across the Ugljan and Pasman islands, across the small bridge that connects them and take another ferry to Biograd na Moru.
Use these maps to visualize the options:
Ana3GuestYes, definitely use that small boat from Rab to Lun/Tovarnele at the top bit of Pag Island.
That small boat that goes from Rab accepts bicycles, although only a few of them, as it is a boat for 12 people – see a detailed topic here:
Also, regarding the suggested Ugljan & Pasman ride, between Zadar, Preko, Tkon and Biograd (https://www.croatiaferries.com/tkon-biograd-ferry.htm) it is a lovely bike ride and as you are in the area, you should definitely do it.
On the way to the airport, avoid the mainland busy roads and ride back via Tkon and Preko to Zadar and to the airport.
Here is a quick, basic map with all ferry crossing for bicycles:
