Vehicles transported by Ferries (2009-2023)

This annual (yearly) volume shows the number of vehicles that were transported by all car ferries in Croatia in the period from 2009 to 2023 broken down by each specific car ferry route. The car ferry transport statistics include the transport of cars, motorbikes, vans, campers, buses, and trucks on domestic car ferry routes within Croatia.

The figures are shown in four different charts in which the ferry routes are separated on the basis of the number of vehicles carried per annum (in this case, the year 2009 was taken as a base year).

Summary

3.97 million vehicles were transported on Croatian ferries in 2023 representing an increase of 4.5% compared to 2022 (3.8 MM). 2023 was the best year so far.

All ferry routes have shown a steady increase in transport volume since 2009 except for the year 2020, due to the effect of the Covid19 pandemic.

Route 334 connecting Porozina and Brestova has shown slow stagnation in the last 15 years, while route 633 connecting Ploce and Trpanj shows a significant drop in volume in 2022/23 (40% drop in 2022 in comparison with 2021, and again in 2023 drop of another 83%) all due to the opening of Peljesac Bridge (July 2022). A significant increase of volume in 2023 is on route 634 connecting Korcula (Domince) and Orebic (15.5% increase), while a slight drop in route 604 volume, connecting Ubli, Vela Luka and Split (5,5% decrease) also due to better road connectivity since the opening of the Peljesac bridge.
